A Few Words About Greece-My Favourite Country is Greece

 

Greece is a country in a unique position, located at the apex of two great continents� Europe and Asia � and not too distant from North Africa. It’s also becoming a popular place to study abroad. Greece is a great destination to travel to, you can take a cruise around its islands, visit Greek monuments, temples, get to know it’s history, legends, mythology and above all places like Crete, Delos, Mykonos and of course Athens. Greece is one of the most highly visited tourist destinations in the world, and it’s history and heritage holds much interest amongst to traveling tourists. Greece is also important ornithological. About 407 bird species have been recorded, of which 240 nest in Greece.
Greece is also keen to establish closer relations with its neighbours in the Balkans. The Government views the Balkans as being of high strategic and economic importance and believes their closer association with the European Union would ensure peace and stability in the region. Greece is a country of natural beauty and charm which has everything to offer to the visitors. Greece is a member of the euro zone. Between 2004 and 2006, Greece’s weighted average annual rate of inflation was 3.3 percent.
Greece is a stable democracy and these activities usually are orderly and lawful. There have been recent incidents in Athens and Thessaloniki, however, in which unruly protestors engaged in aggressive confrontations with the police, often in areas frequented by tourists. Greece is a member of the European Union since 1981. Athens is the capital; Thessaloniki, Patras, Heraklion, Volos and Larissa are some of the country’s other major cities. Greece is probably no different from any other country and no society is perfect. I suppose if you have to pick your poison Greece would come up as a very favorable one. Greece is a major beneficiary of EU aid, equal to about 4% of GDP. The economy has improved steadily over the last few years, as the government has tightened policy in the run-up to Greece’s entry into the EU’s Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) on 1 January 2001. Greece is financing anti-trafficking programs in Albania through Arsis, which will receive A600,000 (US$720,000) over the next three years. Athens spent A3 million last year for similar programs through other NGOs in the Balkans. This is as much information I could gather and get my hands on about my favourite country Greece.
